Our Philosophy

By joining a serious, supportive dance studio, students can be guaranteed the training and motivation necessary to reach major dance goals and career aspirations.

The diversity and talent of the instructors allows students to achieve a strong training in dance. Centre Pointe offers top of the line education in Ballet, Pointe, Modern, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary, Acrobatics and Hip Hop. Centre Pointe’s program includes classes for all ages and ability levels. Students will learn self-expression through music and dance as they learn proper technique, poise and rhythm. The Centre Pointe program is designed to train beginners through professionals in a positive and constructive atmosphere.

It is a well known fact that children who are involved in the arts tend to perform better in school. Dancers are taught the importance of being committed and they must utilize a great amount of focus and concentration to do well at dance. By learning that a dancer must practice something over and over again to “master” it, they are taught that if someone wants to be accomplished or the best at something, they must keep trying, never give up. This desire to be one’s best, leads to great self-confidence, allowing dancers to be well prepared to enter the next phase of their lives once they leave the safe environment of the dance studio. Many dancers consider the studio their second home or their home away from home. At Centre Pointe the dancers find adults who support them and allow them to be creative and express themselves in a positive way, in a positive environment. In addition, corrective criticism is something that a dancer must learn to understand and accept and with time and training, they become capable of listening with a keen ear to what is being asked of them and to take directions and advice without feeling “put upon”. Dancers end up being very productive, capable members of society, the best of the best.

Our History

Centre Pointe Performing Arts, formerly known as Centre Pointe Performing Arts was founded in 1983 by Susan R. Joines as a private dance studio where students would be well trained, in addition to being emotionally and intellectually supported.
